Florence Cox

Florence Marie Cox, age 103, of Lakewood, New Jersey passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Florence was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Hoffman. She attended high school in Philadelphia and later moved to Barnegat where she met her beloved husband of 65 years Benjamin Cox, they settled in Lakewood, NJ.

Florence was a nurse for many years and deservedly retired at the age of 84, a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and the Christ United Methodist Church in Lakewood. She was involved in many clubs in Leisure Village East and she was an avid square dancer and artist.

Florence was predeceased by her Husband Benjamin Cox and her dear son Benjamin Jr, her brother; Robert Hoffman and sister; Marion Hoffman-Winward. She leaves behind her loving daughter; Janet Savage. Her Grandchildren; Vanessa, Sharon, Kim (Bobby) and Amanda (Jay). Florence was blessed with 10 Great Grandchildren and 6 with one on the way Great Great Grandchildren who all called her Meme.

Visitation for Florence will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm -8:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home; 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. An service conducted by the Order of the Eastern Starts will be conducted by during the viewing at 7:30 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11 at 10:00am at D'Elia Funeral Home followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
