Dear Buck family, 
Your dad was our 6th grade teacher and we all so enjoyed him. He made us memorize Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address!  I still recall this treasure even though at the time it was not much fun. 
So glad we had the year with that amazing teacher. We will never forget him. He was so young and handsome too! So happy he married a local gal, Dolores.  I am sure he was a great husband and dad. You are a blessed family. Ps. Recall your uncle Jay who overcame so much and was so successful in life. We knew each other as young children. God bless you all, Gayle Baumeister, Canary

As a former teacher many years ago he will never be forgotten. He made us learn Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address by heart in the 6th grade. I still recall it and it is still relevant. He was a kind progressive teacher.  The year was 1951-52,  I assume it was his first teaching job. His family is blessed to have had him as their husband and father. I recall knowing his lovely wife too and her family. They lived near my grandmother. God bless you all, Gayle Baumeister Canary.

I will never forget the handsome teacher I had in 6th grade.  He made us learn Lincoln’s Gettysburg address. It was a big change from having a woman teacher. He was well liked and respected by the students. The last time I saw him was the day I was at Macy’s to have owedding photos taken. We just waved at each other. He is someone I will never forget. I was delighted when he married Dolores who was from our town.  So nice to know you have 5 children. My sympathy to all of you on the loss of this great man. Thank you for making Science interesting & really caring for your class to each child you taught learnt what you were teaching. Even before they said,"No child left behind!" You had already mastered that.  Thank

As a new employee in Howell Township I was new at Griebling and really did not know anyone however Guy was a  person that made me feel comfortable and as though we knew each other forever.   He and his  wife  also celebrated my 65th birthday  party with me, my family, and friends at Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood,  N.J ten years ago.  We had a wonderful time and I felt honored that Guy and Mrs. Buck took the time to celebrate with me.

Just seeing this now.  Deepest sympathy to the Buck family.  So sorry to hear of Guy's passing.  He was a great man.

Dear Jay and the entire Buck family,

Sending my sincere condolences at this difficult time. May you find solace in your precious memories of the wonderful lifetime you spent with your dearest Dad.  My heartfelt sympathy to your Mother and your entire family. 

Mr. Buck spent a summer helping me understand and comprehend math when I was having extreme difficulty. As a result, I came to know Mr. Buck as a friend, mentor, teacher and most importantly, a chess partner. 

May God bless you Mr. Buck and may your family find peace knowing you are in God’s loving arms forever.

40 years ago, I was an 8th-grade student at Edith M. Griebling school in 1978.  Mr. Buck was both my homeroom and science teacher.  He was a great science teacher and I still remember fondly the shark dissection from his class.   What made Mr. Buck stand out for me was his consistent, principled approach to how he conducted himself with his students.  As an awkward, pre-teen full of himself in his last year of elementary school, I found his methods frustrating at first.  For example, when responding in the negative to a question ("May I go to the bathroom?"), he would say "Yes, you may not."  In the first few months, our class learned and became used to his idiosyncrasies.  As the year progressed, though, I began to appreciate the consistency and rigor; his behavior was much easier to understand than of teachers who played favorites or would have arbitrary rules.  And, Mr. Buck would consider any question thoughtfully and would always provide a careful response.  At a time in my life when I had so many questions, this was most appreciated.  Today, I can see many similarities in how I conduct myself to how Mr. Buck would in his classroom four decades ago.

God bless you Guy Buck.  You were my favorite and most inspirational teacher ever.  A real man who taught manors & respect.  We live not to far from where you were brought  up and close to Mansfield.   What a small world which you made brighter .   Love to your family from a 1973  Forrestdale student.   

Mr. Buck was my science teacher at Griebling School in the mid 1970s. He instilled a love of science that eventually led me to a career as a computer engineer. 

I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Buck. There is so many great memories of my Science teacher.
He always had his saying “Fool me once same on me, fool me twice shame on you”
He was one of my teachers from Griebling that made a huge impact on me as an educator and as a person.
May his memory be for a blessing.

I don't remember meeting Mr. Buck, but his children were always well behaved and honored their parents.  His oldest son, Jay was my classmate from elementary school through 12th grade and was always a great kid, respectful and friendly, a young man who would make any parents proud.  I know Mr. Buck will be missed by his family and friends and all those lucky enough to have been students in the schools where he worked.  Heaven had just received a handsome angel, indeed.
