

Herminio Santiago, age 73, of Lakewood, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Green Acres Manor in Toms River, NJ. He was born on April 26, 1943 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico. After being raised in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Lakewood over 58 years ago. Herminio was a former carpenter and truck driver. He is remembered as a true collector who enjoyed visiting flea market auctions. Herminio had a passion for fixing things. He collected watches, worked on cars, and monitored the weather and air temperature frequently. He is survived by his beloved wife Francisca five children, Magdalena Santiago, Kevin Santiago, Herminio Santiago, Jr., Melinda Santiago and Anthony Santiago and his wife Natalee; 2 sisters, Evelyn and Olga; 3 brothers, Anthony, Miguel and Jose; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
