

John “Jack” Dawson Taylor, age 83, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his residence. Jack was born on June 25, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, and he was the son of the late Joseph and Jeannette Taylor. After being raised in Philadelphia, he was a 25 year resident of Middletown before moving to Lakewood 15 years ago. He was a former accountant for the Amerada Hess Corporation in Woodbridge, NJ. Jack also served in the US Army. He enjoyed playing golf, and managed to get a hole-in-one twice. He was a cyclist who journeyed over 95,000 miles. Jack like to visit Monmouth Race Track and was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Jack was predeceased by two wives; Agnes Regina Taylor and Margaret Mary Taylor. He is survived by his step-children, Jack Short and his wife Georgia, Peggy Kenny and her husband Pete, Jerry Short and his wife Maryann, Vincent Short and his wife Lori, and Bobby Short; a brother, Joel Taylor and his wife Mary of Gainesboro, TN, 4 grandchildren, John Kenny and his wife Bridget, Megan Kenny, and Alexie and Courtney Short; and a great grandchild, Whitney Kenny. Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4 to8 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Red Bank, NJ.
