

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles and Marguerite (Cook) Poland. Joan was raised in East Brookfield and graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer in 1954.
Following several moves due to her husband’s military career, Joan and Wesley settled in New Jersey where they raised their 3 sons. After 35 years, they moved back to Massachusetts where they enjoyed retired life living in Joan’s childhood home which they enjoyed restoring together. Next move was to sunny Florida, where they enjoyed cruising and seeing the world with the many friends they made. After enjoying the sunshine state for 10 years, they moved back to New Jersey to enjoy watching their grandsons grow up and cheering them on at their various sporting and school events.
In Joan’s earlier years, she was a member of the Order of Rainbow for girls and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was making countless quilts and blankets for her children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and even the family dogs.
Joan was predeceased by her oldest son David, and her sister Virginia. She is survived by her beloved husband , Wesley and her sons Randy and his wife Dana of Riverside, California and Scott and his wife Lori of Sea Girt, New Jersey. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Kassidy, Berlin, Kaya, Aiden, Wyatt, Charlie and Henry. She is survived by her sister Sandra.
She lead an amazing life for 90 years because she made it that way.
