

John was born on April 16, 1928 in Newark, NJ. He was raised in Newark, and graduated from the Barringer High School. John was a former resident of Point Pleasant and Brielle, before moving to Manchester in 1997. He served honorably in the US Air Force as Staff Sergeant and Aircraft Engine Specialist in the 49th Bomber Squad, Hunter AFB Savannah, Georgia, during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, John operated his own building maintenance service company and also owned Keyboards of Ocean County, a piano and organ studio, in Brick, NJ.
Son of Jesse Silva and Catherine Abene and husband of the late Rosalie A. Silva (Albanese), he is survived by his children, Sandra Hurley Silva of Manchester, Deborah and Everett LaVance of Brick, NJ, and John K Silva and Jami Silva of Wall, NJ; his grandchildren, Sondra, Tracy and Gina Hurley, Jessica, Alexandria, and John Silva, Everett LaVance; and his great-grandchildren, Giana Iannuzzi and Antonio Iannuzzi.
John was a motorcycle enthusiast for over 40 years, a lifetime member of the Raritan Road Runners Motorcycle club, Keyport, NJ.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. During the visitation, a ceremony to celebrate his life will be offered at 7:30 p.m. John will be placed alongside his late wife on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Ocean County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
