

John Thomas Tassini, 90, died on Friday October 1st after a short illness. He lived in Matawan NJ for 65 years. Tom, as he was known, was an expert watercolor artist and avid writer who published two novels. He was known for his great sense of humor, optimistic and kind personality.
Tom was a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers Law School. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Marines and a proud Korean War veteran. He spent the majority of his career at IBM. In retirement, Tom discovered a love of architecture and worked for 14 years as a docent at Taliesin West, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in Scottsdale Arizona.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of over thirty years Trish, his daughter Amy Spina and husband Steven, stepdaughter Sharon Costello and husband Kenny Brooks stepson Sean Costello and wife Denise, stepson Tom Costello and companion Christine, and six grandchildren Theresa, Amanda, Katherine, Bridget, Brian and Caroline. Tom also enjoyed the love and companionship of his dog Holly.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6th at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood, N.J. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 7th at the D'Elia Funeral Home followed by the interment at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Keyport, N.J.
