Marilyn Daly Newton, age 74, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at home. Marilyn was born March 14,1947 in Newark, NJ as the daughter of Charlotte (Jackson) and John J. Daly. She was raised in Kearny and was a graduate of Kearny High School, as well as St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1968. Marilyn retired in 2018 from her career in health care as the Clinical Manager from Bayada Home Health Care. She was a member of the ALS Commission, the National Gerontological Nurses Association, Association for Rehabilitation Nurses, and the St. Mary's Hospital Alumni Association. Marilyn was an active member of St. Justin The Martyr Church, where she taught C.C.D., served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother, and will always be affectionately remembered as Grandma Mimi. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Ginny Schenck and her husband Ted, and Meredith N. Olson and her husband Ron; her sisters Marcia Shad and Carol Wilson; and her grandchildren, Abigail, Thomas, and Carter. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. Justin the Martyr Church, 975 Fischer Boulevard, Toms River, NJ 08753. Marilyn will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
