Mary Ellen Blackwell

Born in Trenton, NJ and raised Hamilton, NJ (White Horse section) by her grandparents, John and Anna Downing. Mary Ellen lived in Philadelphia PA for 25 years before moving to The Villages located in Lakewood, NJ.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Raphael School, Notre Dame High School, The College of New Jersey, and the Vocational School of Nursing.

Mary Ellen worked for the Diocese of Trenton, Catholic Charities, for 13 years. She was the first Director of Parish Social Ministry and Parish Emergency Assistance Program.

Mary Ellen was a member of the Sisters for Christian Community since 1974. She was also a member of the Companions of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, Trenton Group.

Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Clifford and Marie Blackwell and the sister of the late John Blackwell. She is survived by her sister and husband, Peggy (Margaret) and Edward Mulvan; a nephew and his wife, Edward and Debra Mulvan; a niece and her husband, Donna and David Zsenak; a niece, Maureen Mulvan. She is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews Danielle Zsenak, Dean Zsenak, and David Zsenak.

She leaves behind her dear friends Miryam Francis, SFCC; Alice Kelsy, SFCC, and Barbara S. and Edward McDonald.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Holy Family Church, located at 1139 E. County Line Road, Lakewood, NJ 08701.

Interment will be privately held at the Colonial Memorial Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ
