Robert Allan Roman

Robert affectionately known as "Bob" was born June 27, 1931 to the late Frank and Irene Roman. He was born and raised in Union, NJ where he attended and graduated through the Union School System and then went on to Upsala College and finished his education at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ.

Bob joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1946 which became a large part of his life having a 70 plus year affiliation with the program. Holding titles of Scoutmaster, Explorer advisor, O.A. Lodge advisor, Merit Badge counselor, distract chairman, executive board member, Council Commissioner as well as winning different awards.

Bob served as Mayor of Mantoloking, NJ for 8 years and previously served on the Planning Board, Council and was past council President as well. He also served as President of the school board. He also volunteered at The Red Cross and YMCA as a water safety instructor. He also served his community volunteering at the Mantoloking Fire Co for many years. He was Ceo and owner of Ocean Freightliner and trucking company in Lakewood, NJ and was employed at Harrogate as Corporate Secretary and board member.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years; Joan (nee Cowell) Roman, his dear children; Lynne (George), Robert Jr (Rose), Joyce and Scott (Watt) as well as his 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
