Rose Sandlin (nee Colangelo) died on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the age of 96. She was a resident of Estero, FL and previously lived in Toms River and Lakewood. A graduate of Lakewood High School’s class of 1937, she worked in the family business until her marriage to Herman Sandlin, a Navy Chief Petty Officer. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, but after her husband’s retirement, she went on to work for Lane Drugs. Rose was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association and loved playing card games with a group of women for many years especially the game of Phase 10 with her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Grace Colangelo; her husband, Herman; 2 sons, Ronald and Thomas; 2 sisters: Mary Bocchetti and Lillian Sibilio; and a brother, Anthony Colangelo. Surviving is her daughter: Susan Carlson and her husband Robert; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood on Thursday from 4-7PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s name to the VNA Hospice, 1433 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753.
