
Born in Jersey City, Stephen grew up in Creskill, NJ. Stephen lived in Dumont, NJ. from 1980 until 2014 before moving to Lakewood. Stephen graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC where he and Debbie met. Steve had a lifelong passion for sports of all kinds. He had many favorite teams over the years, including the Boston Red Sox, the NJ Devils, and especially Arsenal soccer in more recent years. He frequently wore his Arsenal jerseys and was rarely seen without a sports cap on. Steve was also passionate about music and history.
Stephen worked as a customer service representative for the General Electric Corporation in New York City for many years before his retirement.
Stephen was the son of the late Stewart and Theodora (Knutsen) Duncan, and he was predeceased by his uncles, Hans Knutsen and Roger Brown.
Stephen will be missed by his wife, Debbie Duncan, his sisters, Diane Finckenauer and Debra Jean Duncan and her husband, Bill Tito, a brother-in-law, Scott Finckenauer, two nieces; Lara Tito and Kristen Finckenauer, two nephews, Kevin Finckenauer and Chris Tito, three aunts; Marilyn Brown, Edna Scheibe and her husband Charles, and Joan Knutsen; and many cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed at home by his "furry" family.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, November 19th at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, N.J. Those attending are required to wear a facial mask and exercise social distancing while attending.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the Wounded Warriors Project, the Seeing Eye School, Morristown, N.J. or to a favorite charity of the donor's choice.
