

Deacon Clarence Edwin Thomas was born September 23, 1949 and passed away from this earthly home on July 24, 2012. For 23 years, he was a warrior against cancer. He won his battle on July 24, 2012. He is quietly and peacefully resting in the arms of Jesus. No more pain, no more suffering, no more tears, just "Hallelujah and Praise God!!" Deacon Thomas found Jesus at an early age and was baptized by the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He was educated in the Galveston Independent School District, and attended College of the Mainland. He was a dedicated and hard worker for Sterling Chemicals Plant for 38 years. He was a veteran of the US Armed Forces (Army) during the Vietnam Era and served his county proudly. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Texas City under the leadership of Pastor L. D. Johnson, where he proudly served on the Deacon Board and was a member of the Mass Choir and Male Chorus. He was a diligent worked in the Finance Room of Mt. Zion and he loved working for the Lord. He loved the Lord and was most thankful for the 62 years God gave him here on earth. He is now living with Jesus in Heaven and resting peacefully. He was a faithful, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Dorothy Gilford Thomas and Clarence Thomas; one brother, Kenneth Ray Thomas; and father-in-law, Rev. Richard Alexander Sr. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted wife of 40 years, Norma Faye Alexander Thomas; two sons, Edwin (Tamara) Thomas and Alex (Marilyn) Thomas, Sr.; fifteen children, Alex "AyJay" Thomas Jr., Dorian J. Johnson, Desmond Thomas, Derek Thomas, Kyaira Burns, Dariya Thomas, Tatyana Thomas, Myia Thomas, Aeryn Thomas, Destiny Thomas, Haden Thomas, Deven Thomas, Mykiah Goss, Ramiah Brooks and Kendyll Thomas; a Godson, Nigel Dunn; three Goddaughters, Adrina Humphrey, Peyton Hendon, Shalonda Oliver; seven sisters and brothers, Brenda (Tarris) Woods, Iris (Freddie) Mitchell, Doris McKinley, Donald Thomas, Carla (Jimmy) Thomas-Burrell, Jarvis (Erika) Thomas and Joseph Thomas. He will be missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Friend, Eddie Dunn for over 50 years and good friend and brother in Christ of Louisiana, Bro. William Curry (as well as brother-in-law). He also leaves to mourn his passing, his mother-in-law, Flossie Alexander; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dora (William) Curry, Richard (Sandra) Alexander, Jr., Carolyn (Roy) Long, Rev. Michael (Mary) Alexander, Sr., Rev. Jessie Alexander and Deacon Ardis (Yvette) Alexander; four aunts, Doretha Arthur, Audrey Jean Banks, Gladys Gilford, Quennie Gilford. We will miss you Clarence, but we know you are having a good time up in Heaven with Jesus Christ, praising His holy name. This is not good-bye, just so long until we meet again, we love you so much.
