Dorothy was born November 10, 1962 to Leonard Chambers and JoAnn Franklin in Galveston, Texas. Dot was educated in the public schools of La Marque, Texas and was a member of the Class of 1981. She furthered her education by attending College of the Mainland (Police Academy) and John’s Beauty College in Texas City. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Galveston under the leadership of the late Rev. M. L. Ford. After moving to Texas City, the family united with Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Zephaniah Phillips. Later in life, Dot continued her Christian walk with the Lord and was a member of Willing Workers Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James C. Carrington Jr. Dorothy enjoyed reading, baking, spending time with her great-nieces and nephews, and most of all rejoicing in the Lord. On April 28, 2016, she answered the call of her Heavenly Father to come home and rest. She is preceded in death by her biological father, Leonard Chambers; her adoptive father, Eugene Mills and her namesake, her beloved grandmother, Dorothy Mae Deloach. She leaves to cherish memories of her life: her loving daughter, Jaalyn Gipson; her devoted mother and step-father, JoAnn Little and Paul Little Sr.; her beloved sisters, Kimberly Mills Theriot and Yolanda Mills; six step-brothers, two step-sisters; two nieces, Kymberly Theriot and Christen Mills; one nephew, Aldorean Young; three great-nieces, two great-nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.
