Joyce Marie Allen

Joyce Guy Allen passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Galveston, Texas at the age of 80 years old.

She was born on January 13,1940 in Galveston, Texas to Ennis Guy, Sr. and Fannie Guy.

She was educated in public schools in Galveston and La Marque, TX. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1957. She married Willie Lee Allen on June 17,1958 and with this union they had two daughters.

Over the years, she hosted many family gatherings for her children, grandchildren and great-grandkids. She really loved to “cut-up” with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Joyce loved traveling, technology and taking care of the home. Her interest in computers and technology inspired her to further her education at College of the Mainland in 1997.

Her spiritual journey included Live Oak Baptist Church in Galveston, Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church in Texas City and Mt Zion Baptist Church in Texas City.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, ’Mama Dear”, “Sister” and friend.

She was preceded in death by many of her beloved family.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 62 years, Willie Lee Allen;

daughters, Linda (Michael) Taylor, Damita Nance; grandchildren, Tracee Taylor, Kara Johnson, Michael Taylor, Jr., William Allen, Joel Taylor and Kendricks Nance; great-grandchildren, Kayla Jenkins, Kristian Hughes, Ka’Mauri Johnson and Marcellous Johnson IV; siblings, Irma Maxwell, Willie Mae Holt, Jeffery Guy, Kenneth Guy, Avis Morgan and Gaye Morgan; devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charles and Betty Faye Pichon; devoted friend, Minerva McAfee, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held in lieu of a funeral, per Joyce's final request.
