

The beautiful and fruitful life on Lula Banner Malone began in Brazoria County, Texas on September 17, 1924. She was born to the union of Maxie Diggs Sr. and Ella Payne Diggs. Lula was educated in the public schools of East Columbia (Brazoria County). At an early age, Lula accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the late Pastor Farris. Lula was united in marriage to the love of her life Mr. Artie Malone. To this union one daughter was born, Audrey Mae. Lula was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Texas City under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Dr. F. M. Johnson. She served actively in Mission II. She was a former member of Lavonia Court #415 of Calanthe. Aunt Lula, as she was known by many, loved her family and friends. She was always known for her big beautiful smile. She was a humble and quiet woman, but possessed a quality of family values and strength that she shared with those she came in contact with. On the morning of April 17, 2015 at her home, Lula B. Malone heard the voice of Jesus say "Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant". She is preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Maxie Diggs Sr.; her husband, Artie Malone; sister, Lorretta Diggs McIntyre; and brothers, Alphonse Diggs, Maxie Diggs Jr., Milton James Diggs and Gylum Diggs. Left to celebrate her Victory in Jesus are her daughter, Audrey Malone; 4 grandchildren, Jasmine Malone, Jessica Malone, Tanisha Mack and Leveda Mack; two great-grandchildren, King Edmond and Courtney Edmond; four sisters, Earnestine Barrett, Bessie Stewart, Deloris Ford (Robert), Essie Mae Tolbert; three brothers, Leroy Diggs, Oscar Lee Diggs and John Henry Diggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
