

Michael Wayne Henson brought joy to the lives of his family when he was born to Sammie Henson on March 28, 1969 in Galveston, Texas. Michael was educated in the public schools of La Marque, Texas and was a 1987 graduate of La Marque High School. He attended Texas Southern University and Barber College. At an early age he united with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City under Rev. Dr. D. N. Benford Sr. He was active in the youth department of the church. He was employed with the City of Texas City and later with TDC as a Guard at UTMB Hospital in Galveston. Keeping up with the legacy of his grandmother, Mike was a Barber at Wise's Barber Shop in Texas City In his leisure time, he still found time to Coach the La Marque Tigers Football Team; Coach various Softball Teams (while his girls played; and was a member of ACMSF. Mike was a guy who loved life and most of all the loves of his life, his children. He was a jovial character who brought joy to all he came in contact with. On July 27, 2015, Mike entered into his eternal rest at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. Upon his heavenly arrival he was welcomed by his mother, Sammie Henson Ford; his grandmother, Vera Daniel Henson; and great-grandmother, Bertha Daniels. Left to carry on his legacy are his children, Mikiesha Henson, Mikelle Henson, Rayana Caldwell and Michaela Henson; his sister, Sheree Lawrence (Douglas); brother, Eric Hunter Henson; devoted companion, Arkense Shoulders; step-children, Jaylon Shelton and Jamorie Shoulders; nephews, Davin Allen, Rodney Stolls Jr. and Samuel Perry; beloved aunts and uncles, Dr. Verna Jean Henson PhD, Charles Henson (Anita) and David Henson (Tillie); great-aunt, Mable Britton; and a host of cousins, family members, players, co-workers and devoted friends.
