Hebrews 11:6 Thomas Britton Jr. born March 20, 1928 in La Marque, TX he was the 7th child of eleven children born into the union of Thomas James Britton Sr. and Delia Ophelia Britton. He was the grandson of Thomas Henry and Pearl Hobgood Britton the great grandson of Kneeland Britton and Sylvia Britton, the first Black landowners in the Settlement in LaMarque. Thomas loved the Lord, he loved life!! He always has a kind word, always tried to lift someone's spirit with a joke or a silly story. He never ended a visit without a word from the Lord. He always said," trust in Him" then would break out in a spiritual hymn. He always had a story, Thomas was very funny. Yes! you will truly be missed. Thomas served in the United States Marines. He was a Merchant Seaman for 25 years. He retired from Union Carbide. He is proceeded in death by both parents Thomas and Delia Britton, his son Michael A. Britton and granddaughter Michelle Allen; siblings Christine Ray, Pearl Oliver, Claudia Zenon, Catherine Britton, Manuel Britton, Van Couver Britton, Alphonse Britton, Anthony Britton, Delia Anderson Britton and William Britton. Left to Honor, Cherish and Celebrate Thomas James Britton Jr. legacy is his devoted children Gwendolyn Beaver, Dale Griffin, Anita Stokes (Ronald), Thomas Britton III, Mark Preston and Jeanette Britton, His grandchildren Tamara Griffin, Michael Allen, Myra Griffin, Quentin Wilson, Danielle Stokes, Janice Preston, and Shani Preston; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
