She was born May 11, 1930 in Leon, West Virginia to John and Ethel Sayre. Her family
moved to Pleasantville, Ohio in 1937, after the death of her father in a tractor accident.
She retired in 1992 after 24 years of service at ODOT, as a Cost Analyst for the Highway
Department. Dee was a member of the Fairfield Christian Church where she volunteered
as a receptionist for several years.
Dee is survived by her two daughters, Lyn (Cliff) Nelson and Sandra (Bob) Clum, and
two sons, Tom Hansley and John (Kelli Swyers) Hansley all of Lancaster; Stepson Larry
(MaryBeth) Tipton of Delaware, Stepdaughters Starr Daubenmire of Dayton and Valerie
Tipton of Columbus. She was blessed with 13 wonderful grandchildren: Todd (Tisha)
Leupold and Eryn Lyn Nelson; Jennifer (Jason) Hunter, Laura Brown, Tony (Rachel)
Clum and Bo (Amy) Clum; Ashley (Adam) Bush and Cheyenne Hansley; Eric Hansley,
Angel (Troy) Conrad, Matt (Rachel) Hansley, Brad (Kris) Price and Jason (Missi
Sherrick) Price. Dee was also blessed with 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great
grandchildren, and very special friend, Marian Curtis.
Preceded in Death by her devoted husband, Ralph Tipton, parents John and Ethel
Sayre, sister Frances Turner, brothers Clyde "Shorty" Sayre and Herbert Sayre as well as
many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19 at Halteman-Fett & Dyer,
436 N Broad St and Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20 at
Fairfield Christian Church in the small Chapel, 1965 N Columbus St, both in Lancaster,
OH 43130. Interment will follow the Service in Forest Rose Cemetery
