

Patricia (Pat) Ann Dexter, age 81, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at her home in Lancaster, Ohio. Pat was born on March 23,1943 in Logan, Ohio to Charles and Alice Green and grew up in a loving home surrounded by her brothers, Larry and Troy, and sister, Raine.
Pat married the love of her life, Michael G. Dexter, on March 31, 1962 and were married for 41 years. They had 8 children whom she loved deeply. Pat was a woman of courage and faith, a dedicated wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved being at home with her children preparing meals, making sure homework was completed, supporting her children in sports, and taking them to church, all while teaching them about her love for God and music, which also carried over to grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Pat was a pillar in her community and loved to serve. She was a faithful caregiver. She volunteered countless hours to Fairfield Christian Academy (Church of God, Main St.) serving as a music teacher, teacher’s aide, and assisting her husband with the basketball program. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years at Church of God (now Pleasant Chapel).
Pat’s big heart extended to those around her. She opened her home to many as a place of safety, warmth, and compassion. She embraced people from all walks of life and treated them as though they were her own. Pat served as First Lady of Good Shepherd Church for 12 years. Her godly wisdom and strength impacted many. She continued to sing, serve, and love at Good Shepherd Church until her passing.
Pat is survived by her children Michael “Greg” (Michelle) Dexter, Tavon “Tavie” (Patrick) Miller, Vincent Dexter, James (Jenni) Dexter, Julie (Chuck) Anderson, Audrey (John) Grabans, Joshua (Dori) Dexter, and Andrea Graf, all of Lancaster, Ohio, brother Troy Green of Jacksonville, Florida, 43 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a host of adopted children that called her mom, extended family and friends, so go ahead and insert your name. She was preceded in death by husband Pastor Michael G. Dexter, Sr., father Charles Green, mother Alice Green Miller, brothers Tommy Green and Larry Green, sister Alice (Raine) Green, and grandsons Elijah Graf and Zane Grabans.
The family would like to acknowledge each and every person that has invested in our mom over the years, whether it was building something for her, a phone call, a ride, a listening ear, or deep friendships. For that, we say thank you.
In honor of our mom’s love for music, an informal music tribute will be held on Monday, June 24, at Good Shepherd Church following the visitation hours. All are welcome to join in.
Visitation for Patricia will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Good Shepherd Church, 700 Spring St., Lancaster, Ohio. Visitation hours will also be available Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with the Celebration of Life service to follow. Pat will be buried at Floral Hills cemetery. A reception dinner will be held at Good Shepherd Church following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Church (700 Spring Street Lancaster, OH 43130) in memory of Pat.
