Barbara and Roger’s love began in junior high school. From those early years on, they remained devoted to one another, married for 63 years. For decades, they were rarely separated, building a life and family side by side.
Barbara, known to many as “Barb,” was a lifelong resident of Lancaster and a graduate of Lancaster High School. She was a wonderful cook, best known for her Christmas cookies that became a treasured tradition for family and friends. She was deeply devoted to her family and took great pride in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Barb will be remembered for her faith, her quiet strength, and the way she made people feel at home.
Roger was an Army veteran who took pride in his service and carried that same dedication into his life and family. He retired from Anchor Hocking and loved his Ford trucks, his motorcycle, and taking Barb on trips with their group, the Coonpath Crusaders. Roger was known for his playful and silly humor that kept those around him laughing. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother who valued time with the people he loved above all else.
Roger and Barbara are survived by their son, Troy (Taffenie) Smith, and their grandchildren, Valerie (Mathew) Stillson, Hunter (Kaylee) Adcock, and Thatcher Smith. Roger is survived by his sisters Loretta Hall, Debbie (Ron) Smith, and Sharron Smith, all of Lancaster; his brothers Rex (Jimmy) Patton of Greencove Springs, Florida, and Ronnie (Julie) Patton of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
