Rose L. “Rosie” Benson, 87, of Carroll, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on April 1, 2024. She was born August 1, 1936, to the late John and Leota Kilbarger in Lancaster, Ohio. Rosie was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and attended St. Mary’s High School. Rosie loved spending time with her family, gardening, OSU football, playing Euchre and Bingo. Rosie retired after 30 years from Bloom Carroll Local School District as head cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Brownie" Benson; her parents; Brothers John, Robert, Dick, and Donald. Sisters Suzie, Gertrude, Pauline, Edna, Ellen, Florence, Maggie, Marie, Patricia, and Ruth. Sister/Brother-In-Law Jean Ann and Louie Warthman, Brother In Law Halvin “Jack” (Nelda) Benson; and son Jeffrey “Scooby” Benson.
Survived by children Brad Benson (Nicole), Brenda (Bob) Stottsberry, Jeannette (Richard) Benedict, Brian (Debbie) Benson, and Jennifer Benson. Grandchildren Christopher (Callihan) Benson, Chrystal (Chris) Sharp, Maria (Justin) Ellars, Bradley (K’Lee) Underwood, Kamara Chea (Dominick), Bryan (Ashley) Chea, Nathan Meadows (Nevada), Jonathan Benson, Alexis (Kyle) Lilley, Hunter Nessley, Alex Schiff, Cody Long; 23 Great Grandchildren; Brother In Law Jerry (Ginny) Benson; K9 companions Annie and Gracie; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may call Friday, April 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 at Halteman Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 6th at 10:30am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Tomson officiating. Burial will follow in Betzer Cemetery, Carroll. A reception will immediately follow burial at the Carroll Civic Center, 89 E. Canal Street, Carroll, OH 43112.
