
Siegfried “Sig” F. Dierk, 83, of Lancaster, OH passed away on September 12, 2012 at the Pickering House in Lancaster after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born September 17, 1928 in Schwerin/Mecklenburg, Germany to Paul and Herta (Bossow) Dierk and came to the U.S. in 1930 with his parents settling in New Jersey. He attended schools in various cities in New Jersey and back in Germany. After his graduation from Dover (NJ) High School in 1948 he worked as a journeyman electrician in Newark, NJ before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. During his Air Force service Siegfried was stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS; Lockbourne AFB, Columbus, OH; and Lowry AFB, Denver, CO. He was employed by RCA from 1955 to 1976 in Camden, NJ and later in Princeton, NJ at the David Sarnoff Research Center. While with RCA, Siegfried obtained both his BS in Electrical Engineering degree in 1962 and his MS in Information Science in 1972 from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He continued his career as manager of the Documentation Dept. at OCLC in Columbus and Dublin from 1976 until his retirement in 1992. Siegfried was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster where he served as an elder. He enjoyed reading, taking care of animals and his yard but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Anna (Myers) Dierk; daughter Lorelei (Steven) White; two grandsons Derek White and Tyler White; one brother Karsten (Anita) Dierk; three nephews and a niece; several brother in-laws and cousins, as well as other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents along with his aunts in Germany. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 231 E. Mulberry St., Lancaster, OH with Pastor Mark Raddatz officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday 5-8 P.M. at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the Church on Monday.
