William G. Nelle Sr., age 88 of Carroll, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in Carriage Court. He was born on May 17, 1922 in Elwood City, PA a son of the late, John W. and Edna P. (Kriner) Nelle Sr. He was a retired Master Sgt., U.S. Air Force, Veteran of WWII with a very interesting history of service. Bill after retirement from the military sold insurance for the Independent Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mabel (Bowling) Nelle; two sons, William “Bill” Nelle Jr. and wife Tina of San Francisco, California and Larry “Jeff” Nelle of Columbus; a sister, Betty Schliffka of PA; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Christia Donley and Wilma Grace Nelle and a brother John W. Nelle Jr.
Funeral services will be held 12 pm Friday at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, 436 N. Broad St., Lancaster with Rev. Harold Sturm officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery, Canal Winchester, where the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home.
