Anka Hales (née Zaborac) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 93 in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Anka was born in Begovo-Razdolje, Croatia on July 12, 1932. She emigrated in 1957, building a new life in Canada with her husband Slavko in Kitimat, BC. In 1979, the Hales moved to Langley, BC where Anka spent the rest of her life.
Anka is survived by her daughters Angela, Davorka and Anne; her dear grandchildren Anne, Mira, Joe, Matthew and Ellie; her adored great-grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, Nicola, Thuja, Taiga, Danica and Joey; and her brother Miro. Anka was predeceased by Slavko (2009) and her son Louis (2024).
Friends of Anka and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass and reception at St. Joseph’s Church (20676 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC) on Monday October 20, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC).
