

Bernie is survived by his wife Sue, her daughter Katharine, son-in-law Jim and their two children Abby and Ryan. Lovingly remembered by his cousin Don, his daughter Liz, and her children Isabelle, Josephine and Argyle. He will be sadly missed by his cousin Pete, his wife Eve and their children John and Julie.
Bernie served in the military as a young man, and then joined the London Metropolitan Police, where he worked as a Scotland Yard detective before emigrating to Canada in 1969. In Vancouver he started his own private investigation company, which ran until 1999. He then devoted his energy to painting with, "The Artists of Bernie's Barn" in his studio, created an old barn, on his acreage in South Langley. Several artists would meet every Thursday to paint and often displayed their work in group shows.
Bernie's other passion was music. He played the tenor sax .First with the White Rock Orchestra and later with the South Fraser Community Band. He would take time out to play music with his wife Sue. She would play on her Clavinova piano and he would play his saxophone.
Bernie was blessed to travel around the world gathering a large collection of material for his painting.
In lieu of flowers Bernie requested that donations be made to the SPCA or The Salvation Army.
