It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bonita in the early morning of September 8 with her daughter at her side.
She will be forever remembered as a loving mother to both her daughters Carmen (who predeceased her), and Tammy Marcinko.
She was a strong and courageous woman who worked hard to provide for her children. At the age of 49, she returned to school at UBC to earn a graduate diploma that allowed her to restart her teaching career after an extended absence to care for her children. She was a dedicated and passionate secondary school teacher who developed the English as a Second Language program at DW Poppy Secondary School in Langley, B.C. She held her students to high expectations so they could build a strong foundation of skills to succeed in their futures.
Bonita was a private person, but she will be considerably missed by those who had the privilege to know her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada.
