Carole is survived by her boys, Earl and Keith, sister Lori, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Hank and Val, her Stepmother Marie Wallace, and by her brothers Earl and Henry.
Carole was born on December 17, 1952 in Vancouver, B.C. to Hank Smith and Valentine Kinna. After graduating from Langley Secondary School in 1970 she immediately enrolled in Rodells florist school. After working in a flower shop for several years she signed up as a letter carrier at the post office in 1974. Carole met Lee Smith on her mail route and they got married on May 10th, 1980. After living together for a few years they bought the Smith Farm on 80th Avenue in Langley where they set up their dream hobby farm.
Over the next 3 years, the couple welcomed their 2 boys into their home and Carole set about teaching them how to grow all types of plants, caring for animals and the value of a hard days work. Her children remember her as a caring, hard working mother who would do anything for them and encouraged them to pursue their goals. Carole often volunteered at her boys elementary school, St. Catherines. Carole and Lee separated in 1997 and she started her own land scraping business. Years later she would pursue her passion in driving with jobs as an activity coordinator, bus driver, limo driver and finally retiring as a Handy Dart driver in 2018.
Carole was accomplished at sewing, floral arrangements, gardening, baking, painting, home renovations, and driving which showed her ability to learn almost anything. She was an intelligent and well read individual who loved building and creating things for her family, from sewing clothes, to growing vegetables, to baking pies, to painting a house. Carole loved animals and had many horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats throughout her life. She leaves sweet Lily to her sister Lori.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 AM, April 6th at Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. Pastor Jeff Renaud will officiate the ceremony.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carole's life.
