With heavy hearts but fond smiles, we announce the passing of David William Giberson, who left this world on September 8, 2025, at the age of 91. While our grief is great, so too is our gratitude for having known and loved a man who brought so much joy, laughter, and light into our lives.
Born in Vancouver, BC on November 27, 1933, David had a gift: he could make anyone laugh—even on the hardest days. Quirky, silly, and full of mischief, he was a born jokester who saw humor not just as entertainment, but to connect with people and make the world a little brighter.
David never missed a chance to tell a corny joke, pull a harmless prank, or lighten the mood with his signature grin. But beneath all the goofiness was a deeply caring, generous man who loved his family fiercely and stood by without hesitation.
He is predeceased by wife, Donna Marie Giberson (Crossley), and survived by his 3 children, Carol Knott (Brian), David Giberson (Martine), and William (Bill) Giberson, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his great-great grandchildren, all of whom carry his legacy of laughter and love forward.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on October 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm in Cloverdale, BC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of Canada to help others with dementia—or better yet, tell someone a joke today. David would’ve liked that.
Though he may be gone, the laughter he shared lives on in every smile he inspired.
