OBITUARY

David Ian Manly

27 April, 1945 – 26 July, 2020
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Langley Funeral Home

David Ian Manly

Born April 27,1945 to Mary Jane (Whitelaw) and Harrington Manly in Moosejaw, Sask. and died after a brave battle from metastasized cancer in Langley Hospice on July 26, 2020.

Dave was a 32 year veteran of the RCMP and Vancouver City Police, serving in a career he loved.

He was a deeply intelligent and sensitive police officer- advising recruits- “The purpose of police work is to make the machinery of society run smoother. Don’t ticket a mother going out in the middle of the night for baby formula because her car has an expired decal.”

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Lucienne (Lucy) and is buried next to his adored son Warren (’81-’88) at Langley Lawn Cemetery.

Memories and condolences may be shared on Henderson’s Langley Funeral Home website.

If you so wish, in this time of CO-VID, doing 3 nice things for 1st responders, in Dave’s memory would be appreciated.

“Though nothing can bring back the hour

We will grieve not,

But instead take strength

In what must remain behind.”
