David ‘Dave’ Austin Miller, 69, of Langley, BC, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, with dignity and in peace at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Dave was born on December 6, 1955 in Westmont, Quebec. He grew up in Montreal, then moved to British Columbia in the early 1970’s where he worked part-time and attended Douglas College. During this period of time, Dave met Ingrid who became his best friend and love of his life. The two married in 1976 and went on to raise their daughter, Jessica. Dave was a constant source of love, encouragement and unwavering support to his immediate family.
During his working career, Dave worked in the financial industry and then on to sales for a large manufacturing company. He eventually commenced shift work at Belkin Paperboard as a papermaker, and retired in 2011.
Dave was a man with an openness to learn and the drive to be successful. Just newly introduced to home ownership and maintenance, he needed a challenge and undertook project management in the building of his second home at the age of 26. This involved designing, interior decorating, and getting his hands dirty. He learned many skills in the process, and became very proficient in becoming a decorator and handyman around the home.
He had a huge love for cars - from exotic sport models, to lowrider trucks, to muscle cars. He indulged in owning many models, in each category, over his years. Dave participated in car clubs taking on positions to assist organizing events such as car shows, and involving himself in activities such as autocross, together with working on race cars with his good friends. He truly loved talking about, reading about, and tinkering with cars in general.
Dave also had a love of music which shone through in his bass guitar playing, forming a garage band and ultimately performing on the stage at his very own 40th birthday celebration. He loved the blues and his repertoire often included several songs from his all time favorite band, the Allman Brothers. One song in particular, ‘Jessica,' inspired him to name his daughter after it.
Travel was something Dave enjoyed but his opportunities were often placed on hold due to uncontrollable circumstances. His favorite place to travel was the Big Island, Hawaii, being surrounded by the ocean, palm trees, and heavenly sunshine - together with Palm Desert, California for the warm sun and ease of travel.
He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie that he had with the immediate family, in-laws, niece, and nephews, together with all his lifelong friends that were established over the years. We all have stories and memories of our times with Dave and upon reflection, these will be cherished forever, together with an appreciation for his quick wit.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, James and Edith, as well as his older brother, Ted.
At Dave’s request no formal Funeral or Celebration of Life will be held.
Love you always and forever!
‘....When we reach the end
We'll all be singin'
And we'll all be friends
Back where it all begins…’
