It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Ethan Marshall Kano McGregor, who passed away on October 3rd, 2026, at the age of 28. Devoted and loving son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend.
Ethan was born in Richmond, BC. As a young boy, he grew an insatiable love for everything baseball. His knowledge was keen and decisive, particularly for his Toronto Blue Jays. Ethan loved food, consuming his favorites to fill his hollow leg. He was known to regularly request the bakers in his family to make his favorites to satiate his sweet tooth. But nothing was more important than sharing every day with his beautiful, Pitsky dog, “Sumo”.
Throughout his short life, Ethan was full of energy, a smart student, and a talented multi-sport athlete whose accomplishments were many. First and foremost, Ethan’s baseball interest started from a trait inherited from both his Grandpas Kano and McGregor. As catchers in the game, Ethan followed their lead and started as a catcher, then moved into the infield as a shortstop and eventually as a starting, then closing pitcher. Most noteworthy; Ethan was a member of Team Canada at the 2009 Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland, 2009 Provincial Soccer Champion with Langley United, 2009 Pee-Wee ‘AAA’ Provincial Baseball Champion with the Abbotsford Angels, 2016 BC Premier Baseball League (BCPBL) Champion with the Abbotsford Cardinals. Ethan graduated from Walnut Grove Secondary School in 2016 and was accepted to attend Northeastern College in Colorado on a Division 1 scholarship, followed by 2 years playing Canadian Collegiate Baseball with the Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge, Alberta. Ethan was fortunate to learn the game from quality coaches, professional trainers and mentors, whose genuine interest translated into his work ethic and his desire to be his best.
Ethan worked in the door & hardware industry for 7 years alongside his dad and brother.
A Celebration of Ethan’s life will be held on Wednesday October 14th, 2026, at the Templeview Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20370 82nd Avenue, Langley, BC V2Y 2A9 beginning at 1:00 pm.
Ethan will be deeply and forever missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
