With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Flynn Lamar Auchey on August 6th, 2020. Flynn was born August 2nd, 1938 in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Born to Gladys and Irvin Auchey, he was the oldest of 8 children. He worked hard throughout his life. At the young age of 5, Flynn worked on a farm picking beans to help support his family. Graduating with degrees from Williamson College of Trade, Pennsylvania State University and University of Sarasota, he was a scholar and educator. He worked as a professor at University of North Carolina and Virginia Polytechnical and State University. He was a creative and brilliant architect, engineer, and mason always inspiring to build with minimal impact on the surrounding environment. He was a kind, generous, wise man who always provided the people around him with help and guidance. He lived his life with love and dignity, and leaves behind a legacy of a life well lived.
Flynn was a beloved husband to wife Gloria; brother to Mark, Eric, Gary, Ike (predeceased), Keith (predeceased), and Cary (predeceased), and Connie; father to children Flynn Jr., Lynn (son-in-law Rich), Chris, Mae, Bryan, Adrienne (son-in-law Dave), and Carolyn; grandfather to Jessica, Jacob (predeceased), Mackenzie, Jackson, and Jonathan.
Due to Covid, no service or Celebration of Life will be held at this time. Friends and family wishing to send condolences are asked to donate to Langley Rotary Club. Flynn loved being an active member of his community, participating in Meals-on-Wheels during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as donating for support of the backpack programs in Langley schools.
