Frank Arthur Zinger

With only a Grade 12 education, Frank built a remarkable life through hard work and a spirit of adventure. He became a successful business owner, operating his businesses in both Ontario and British Columbia. Later, he shared his knowledge and experience as a guest instructor at Okanagan College, where he taught his trade for many years.

However, Frank’s greatest accomplishment was the life he built with his beloved wife, Rollie. After meeting, they were married just three months later and went on to share 63 wonderful years together. Their remarkable anniversary was commemorated with a certificate from the Government of Canada, which Frank proudly displayed. He deeply loved Rollie and cherished the life they created together.

Frank also had a strong willingness for adventure and never stopped enjoying life. He held both a pilot’s license and a scuba certification, and often travelled. He especially enjoyed their home in Palm Springs, their trailer at Cultus Lake, and trips to Las Vegas, Reno, and Hawaii.

For all of Frank’s accomplishments and adventures, though, being a dad and grandpa was one of the most important parts of who he was. He adored his children and taught them the importance of hard work, loyalty, generosity, family, and forgiveness. He also gave them his sense of humour. Frank loved an inappropriate joke and often made those around them laugh.

As a grandpa, Frank was always there for his grandchildren. He made sure they never went without, stood up for them, and loved their mischievous side. In fact, he seemed to especially enjoy it when the grandkids were being a little naughty. He was the kind of grandpa who would encourage the fun… while making sure the kids didn’t get into too much trouble.

Family was always important to Frank. He called his parents in Ontario every week, who visited for 3 months at a time each year, and made sure family and friends always felt welcome in his home (to the point where over 20 people were staying under his roof at once). He was generous with his time and always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved.

Frank leaves behind a life well lived and a family who will carry a piece of him forward in the way they live and care for one another. Frank will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
