Glenys Ellen Pullman

Her early years were influenced by the death of her father when she was only 2.5 years old. Her childhood years were characterized by chasing after and participating in all the things her older brothers were doing. If there was a need for another player on a softball team or for a hockey or football game – there was Glenys. She didn’t have much choice in developing a passion for sports and becoming an avid sport fan in the years to follow because she was force-fed sports from the cradle. Glenys completed her public-school education at Buckhorn Elementary, Blackburn Junior Secondary and Prince George Senior Secondary School where she played senior high school basketball.

Their Christian faith was the bedrock for the Pullman family, so upon completion of her secondary education she followed in her siblings’ footsteps, attending Briercrest College in Caronport, SK. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in religious education while playing four years of college basketball. It was during her time at Briercrest that she met some of her dearest lifelong friends with whom she maintained close relationships throughout the years.

Following her time at Briercrest, Glenys returned to Prince George and studied to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. After completing her studies, she worked in the hospital in Prince George for several years before moving to Vancouver. She began working at BC Children’s Hospital in the late 80’s and during this time she upgraded her nursing status to Registered Nurse. She would eventually complete a BSc in Nursing at UBC. Following a back injury that forced her to leave traditional hospital-based nursing, Glenys took a position with the City of Richmond as a Nursing Support Services Coordinator. After her retirement in 2019 she took on a role as a casual employee in Nursing Support Services with Fraser Health. She loved nursing and was very good at it. She continued working until her illness eventually forced her to stop.

For the past 20 plus years Glenys lived in Surrey where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her condo. She was a devoted aunty to her many nieces and nephews and more recently to their children as well.

In her final years Glenys valiantly fought her battle with cancer. To the very end she was more concerned about the needs and concerns of others than with her own.

She passed away on July 23, 2026, while in hospice care. The family is thankful for the excellent care Glenys received at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta and extends its appreciation to the staff and volunteers. A special shout out to nurse Laura who went above and beyond in providing compassionate care.

Glenys was predeceased by her father Alvin (1962), her mother Trudy (2012) and two older siblings, Darcy Breitkreuz (2014) and Loren (2019). She is survived by her older brothers Ellery (Marlene) Caronport, SK, Daryl (Gail)—Flatrock, NL, Eldon (Betti)—Winnipeg, MB, brother-in-law Ernie Breitkreuz—Sicamous, BC, and sister-in-law Brenda Pullman—Winnipeg, MB, as well as her many nieces and nephews and their children.

Glenys was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

A Memorial Service for Glenys will take place on Thursday, July 30 at 1pm at Austin Heights Church, 450 Blue Mountain Street, Coquitlam, BC.
