On Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, 2026, our mother, Isabelle M. Clark, passed away at age 92. The youngest daughter of Josephine [Lehoux] and David Gilles Forcier of Meadow Lake, SK, she was the last surviving sibling of Anna [Nadon], Edmond, André, Antoine (“Pat”), Lea [Hannotte], and Gerard. Isabelle grew up in a large Franco-Canadian family surrounded by relatives.
Isabelle grew up in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and in1949-50, her mother Josephine moved the family to Saskatoon, where Isabelle completed grade 12 at Sion Academy. In Fall 1952, Isabelle enrolled at Normal School and, after her teacher training, began her lifelong teaching career.
Isabelle met Lloyd Allen Clark on a blind date, and they soon fell in love; she married him at age 21 on September 17, 1955. Her mother made Isabelle’s wedding dress. Their honeymoon was a train trip to Montreal, where Lloyd went on to obtain a PhD in geology.
Isabelle had four children in six years: Susan [David Hughes], Leslie [Hans Hussmann], Lyle [Fred Heerema], and David [Laurel Magnuson]. The family lived for ten years in Dorval, Quebec, while Lloyd taught at McGill. A yearlong sabbatical took them to Tokyo and Florence. In 1970, Lloyd’s work took them to Salt Lake City, where Isabelle often parented alone while he worked abroad. When David started school, Isabelle returned to university, eventually completing a Master of Education from the University of Utah.
In 1976, the family moved to Regina and later to Saskatoon, where Isabelle earned a PhD in special education from the University of Saskatchewan and became an educational consultant, supporting teachers and students in Saskatoon and surrounding areas. In 1990, Isabelle and Lloyd moved to Surrey, BC, where she continued as an educational consultant for the Surrey School District until retiring in 2001 at age 67.
In retirement, Isabelle and Lloyd were keen gardeners and world travelers. Lloyd passed away on Dec. 30, 2017. Isabelle is fondly remembered for her high energy, holiday meals, and family reunions at Shuswap Lake and Whistler. A lifelong collector of souvenir spoons, decorator plates, copperware, photo albums, stamps, etc., and she also loved house plants. She supported her grandchildren’s learning adventures, especially Ilyes and later Pearl. Near the end of her life, she could not resist shopping for Christmas decorations and nicknacks. Isabelle was grandmother to Ilyes Daoudi, Danielle and Alex Clark [Alix Schebel], and Pearl Hughes, and great-grandmother to Eli and Luna Clark.
The family gratefully thanks Magnolia Gardens for caring for Isabelle during her final years.
Isabelle’s life will be celebrated at a mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Langley, BC, on Wednesday, October 28, at 11AM. A church lunch will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a charity of your choice in Isabelle’s memory.
