OBITUARY

Jean Louise Fisher (Rogers)

9 January, 1938 – 24 January, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Langley Funeral Home

Our cherished Mum & Nannie passed away on 24th January, 2024. Predeceased by her husband & best friend Lioll.

She is survived by her 3 children & their partners, her 7 grandchildren & their partners, and her 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Jean (& Lioll) will be held on 16th March 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Tea Room at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC. Please wear bright colours. Memories and stories are warmly welcomed.

Jean was born in Essex, England, as the only child of Louise and Henry Rogers. She had a wonderful childhood, with a large extended family, many friends, and lots of adventures. She married Lionel Fisher in 1958, she worked in banking, and started to raise a family.

Although she would always deeply miss her family and friends, they emigrated to Canada in the early 70’s. Bringing with them little more than a few suitcases and 3 young children, on another adventure! Settling in Richmond, Jean ran the post office in Steveston, from their variety store on Moncton St. In the 80’s, Jean returned to banking, working at Richmond Savings Credit Union. She made lots of friends along the way, and loved her job. She travelled home to England as often as would allow, often with a side trip adventure, to somewhere warm. “Well, it was on the way!” was heard more than once. In the 90's they moved to White Rock, near the water!

Upon her retirement at 65, prompted by her love of the water and the fact that she could never sit still, Jean immediately started a new career as a cruise consultant. They travelled everywhere and met many new friends along the way, they had so many wonderful adventures.

When it became time for a change, and never knowing how to sit still, they decided their next adventure - a “large” B&B on Vancouver Island would be the answer to their dreams. And it was, they met lots of new friends along the way.

In 2021 when Lioll died, Jean needed to come home, to her family. She settled in Maple Ridge, not near enough to the water for Mum, but she did manage a few more adventures; she traveled home to England, enjoyed long weekends away, boating on all of the local lakes, and even a cruise to Alaska. She reacquainted with lots of treasured family and friends. Now it's time for the next adventure.....

Memorial Tea for Jean and a celebration of Jean & Lioll will be held on Saturday, 16th March at 1:00 p.m. at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC. Please feel free to wear bright colours, and share memories and stories!
