With tremendous sadness we announce the passing of Lorna, predeceased by husband Carl, parents Hazel and William, survived by sisters Vivian and Sandy (Don), sons Donny (Fatima) and Billy (Petra), grandkids Brandon and Justin.
Lorna had the biggest heart and a warm smile for everyone she came across. Mom loved spending time with friends, just ask her. Always up for a visit, a game of Scrabble, or out for a get together, you might find yourself having to schedule a visit because if you just popped in chances are she wasn’t there. Mom had setbacks in her life but faced each one with dignity, grace, and a sense of humor whenever needed. Mom was very strong and never complained about anything.
Lorna was born in Steveston in 1946 and had lifelong friends that she met in school, and also the love of her life, Carl. Carl and Lorna moved to Surrey in 1972 and started a family with Donny born in 1967, and Billy in 1969. They both played baseball in Kennedy Surrey Little League, which mom and dad became very involved in. Mom was a scorekeeper, worked in the concession, and chauffer for a lot of the time. Dad was the groundskeeper between two of the ball parks.
Lorna was a big inspiration in life, and lived it the way she wanted to. Mom was very tough when she needed to be, and tried to see the good things in life and people. Mom had a sweatshirt way back when that had a honeybee on it with a smile and the caption, “don’t worry, Bee happy” and that seems to sum up her attitude. Lorna held a few different jobs throughout her life, with the most notable one being the chef’s assistant at a High School. Mom was a great cook and worked hard and for many years. She made and decorated the cake for the New Westminster Hyack Parade for years.
Lorna loved all animals and had several pets, There was “Guy” and “Tuffy”, two cats that she was mom to for years.
Mom and Dad moved into Willow Park Estates where mom was active and among friends who loved her too! There was always get togethers at the clubhouse and lots of live music that mom would dance to with her walker or without, providing someone would take each arm.
Mom traveled quite a bit in the past while, taking cruises to the Panama Canal, Hawaii, and Alaska, and a Newfoundland trip.
Mom was also a Bone Marrow donor in the 80’s when she found she was a match, so she was able to save a life along the way!
Lorna will be missed so much, but she really made her way into our hearts, so she has not left us!
In lieu of flowers a donation be made in Lorna Boucher's name to Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society.
