It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Isobel Dew, loving mother and grandmother. Mom passed peacefully, surrounded by her family and very dear friends, on December 1, 2025, at the age of 92, at Langley Memorial Hospital.
She will be remembered by her daughters Cindy Dew and Margaret-Ann Fisher (Carl); grandchildren Robbie Chiasson and Megan Fisher; sisters-in-law Marilyn Horton and Janice Dew; brother-in-law Gary Dew (Lisa); and many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Dew, of 46 years; her daughter Judy Chiasson; son-in-law Fred Chiasson; and her mother Victoria Taylor and stepfather Michael Taylor.
Mom was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and was raised by her Aunt Ida and grandfather Julian Swiston. Mom followed Dad to BC, and they married in Esquimalt, BC, on March 28, 1953. They lived in Vancouver and Burnaby before settling in Richmond, BC, where they raised their three daughters, and then moved to Cloverdale, BC, in their retirement years. In June of 2025, Mom moved into Magnolia Gardens in Langley, BC, and very quickly made many new friends there, and she loved living there.
During her career, she worked at Gestetner, Lloyd Stationery, Richmond School Board, and Canadian Airlines, and retired from Canadian Airlines after 12 years of service on January 1, 1998.
For many years, Mom sang with the Sweet Adelines and did some traveling for competitions; she so enjoyed being part of this group. Over the years, Mom loved to knit blankets, the first for her granddaughter Megan. Many friends loved the blankets, so Mom continued to make over 100 of these blankets, which were very quickly renamed the “Grandma Blanket.” Her other passion was playing cards—lots of colourful language would come out when playing! Mom also enjoyed scrapbooking and had created many albums. Mom really enjoyed canning, and everyone loved all the jams she made, and of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas in our house unless Mom did all her delicious baking for the season!
