Amy led an eventful and fulfilling life, beginning her journey in Saskatoon before the family made the move to Burnaby where she spent the majority of her life.
Being the youngest of seven, Amy was able to learn so much from her six siblings helping to shape who she would become. Family was a priority for Amy whether it be to support in times of need or to gather the clan for special occasions. Amy loved the Christmas season and would host Xmas Eve for the McLachlan side of the family and then put on a Xmas brunch for the Gillis side. Her hospitality was not limited to family as she would host the epic Gillis Xmas Ping Pong Tourney with her highly competitive tennis friends. Amy’s love for entertaining married well with her passion for cooking and her recipes today have been passed down to her children and her grandchildren except for the recipe for her well done Special K Pork Chops.
Amy would be described as intensely passionate when it came to her family and was always there to support her kids in their activities. She will always say that she was the athlete in the family playing both tennis and golf in her later years. Amy also loved playing bridge with her tennis friends and would never say no to a slot machine.
Amy is survived by her loving kids, Linda, Bob [Sandie] and John [Lynn] and grandchildren Samantha and Taylor.
Amy was a true fan of Queen Elizabeth II and we could never say a bad word about her and the Royals so it’s appropriate that we leave you with this quote from the Queen:
“Grief is the price you pay for love.”
