Marjorie Edith Bryde Hopson (LeRoy), 98, of Worthington Pavilion in Abbotsford, BC, passed away the afternoon of June 11, 2020 with her children by her side. Marjorie was born to Simon and Eliza LeRoy, April 4, 1922 in Calendar Ontario. She married the late Arthur Hopson in 1941, and they lived together in Ontario, Calgary and Vancouver before relocating to Parksville in 1988.
Marjorie was a kind, generous, intuitive and caring woman who led a simple life and who put the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved the outdoors and nature, going for walks, reading, music, knitting and crocheting, but her greatest joy was in her family. She was predeceased by Arthur in 1998 after 57 years of marriage and then moved from Parksville to be closer to her children Robert (Celine), Heather (Ken), Charlie, Penny (Bob), Steve (Elise) as well as 7 grand and 8 great-grandchildren. Marjorie also has nieces and nephews in Ontario whom she never forgot and always loved.
Many thanks to all the nurses, care aides and recreational staff at Worthington Pavilion, for going the distance and providing such extraordinary and loving care for our mom.
A service will be held on June 23, 2020 at Henderson’s Langley Funeral Home on Fraser Highway beginning at 1:00 pm with burial taking place at 2 pm at the Murrayville cemetery. No flowers at the request of the family, but donations can be made to the Food bank, CNIB, the SPCA or a charity of your choice. If you are unable to make a donation feel free to perform a random act of kindness in her memory.
