Marlene shared a lifelong partnership with her husband, David Wiens. Married for 56 years before his passing in 2025, their life together was built on love, resilience, and an enduring devotion to family.
Marlene lived a life centered on caring for others. She devoted her early years to raising her two sons, Colin and Wes, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with support and stability. As her sons grew older, she began a career as an office manager, where she worked for 15 years and was known for her dependability, organization, and kind nature. She retired at the age of 60, looking forward to spending more time with her family.
Becoming a grandmother brought Marlene immense joy. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially during weekend trips to Vancouver Island, where laughter and togetherness made lasting memories. Camping trips became cherished family traditions, as did the many family get-togethers she loved hosting and attending. These gatherings were filled with connection, stories, and her well-known love of chocolate cake, which always brought a little extra sweetness to the occasion.
In her quieter years, Marlene enjoyed the companionship of her dogs and found comfort in the simple rhythms of home life. She appreciated life’s small pleasures and the time spent with those she loved.
A particularly meaningful moment in her later years came on April 16, 2026, when she became a great-grandmother, a role that filled her with pride and deep joy.
Marlene will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Colin and Wes; her adopted son, Mike; her granddaughters, Tasha and Kylee; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Adilyn Marlene Diego. She is also remembered by extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
A service will be held at Langley Lawn Cemetery on July 7 at 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life.
Marlene will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her deep love of family, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared so freely.
