It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Noel at the age of 83. Noel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9th at Langley Lodge with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Myrna, daughter Sandra, sons Chris (Victoria) and Barry (Louise), grandchildren Andhra, Deven and Jade and close family friend Rita. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews and family members in the U.S. and India. Noel is predeceased by his parents, Percival and Rose and his brother Henry.
Noel was born in Bombay, India. In his early career, he joined the Merchant Marines and sailed on freighters across several oceans and seas as an officer and then as a captain and occasionally even navigated by the stars. He moved his family to Canada in 1965 where he served as a second officer, chief officer and captain on the BC Ferries.
Noel will always be remembered for his sense of humour, his love for playing tennis for which he had many trophies and medals as well as for his love of games especially trivia and Scrabble, science fiction and music – all of which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Noel was a wonderful cook and his delightful and creative cakes and his absolutely delicious biryani will remain forever in our hearts and memories!
A special thank you to all the staff at Langley Lodge for taking such loving care of our Noel.
