Pat dealt with asthma all her life and developed a heart issue in the last years. Her will was strong, but her body was not quite strong enough. She led a remarkable life. She was a remarkable person. So very loved and will be so very missed. She had a deep dedication to her family and through her tireless genealogy work she enjoyed staying connected with many extended family members. She made everyone she met feel special and loved. She was kind and generous with a sly sense of humour that we all enjoyed.
Pat was born in a snowstorm on March 22, 1942 in Pouce Coupe, BC to Percy and Marjorie Clunas. She spent her early years growing up in a two-story log house in Briar Ridge before the family moved to Dawson Creek. She grew up riding horses in and around the area, often taking day trips to the Rim Rocks near Bay Tree, AB and riding over the river flats.
Pat met her husband Les in 1960 while walking down the road to the county fair and they were married 3 years later, on August 17, 1963. They had three children – Lynne & Lorne arrived in 1964 when they were surprised with twins and Lana came along in 1968.
Pat had many careers in her life. She attended Notre Dame Business College, and her first job was as a secretary with the Pouce Coupe Hospital. She worked with the RCMP in Dawson Creek and for the school board after moving to Grande Prairie. In 1968, Pat and Les established Majestic Tire Distributors Ltd. in Grande Prairie, AB. She also made many lifelong friends working at the Grande Prairie Health Unit.
Soon after that she started her own business in the Prairie Mall called Oak & Splendor, selling reproduction furniture and brass giftware. Pat and Les were fortunate enough to semi-retire to Langley at an early age. They travelled extensively, spending lots of time with friends and family. They spent winters in Arizona and travelled far and wide in their RV. After losing Les in 2002, Pat continued to travel, visiting the Maritimes, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Scotland, Paris, Budapest, New York, and Las Vegas along with many other destinations. She very much enjoyed her visiting granddaughters, Erin and Chelsea, over several summers when they were younger.
Pat joined the Red Hat Society with the Crimson Crows for a time and spent many hours laughing with the ladies and dressing up in her purple clothes with the red hats and accessories. She left her house in Langley after 35 years and moved to Avalon Gardens in Langley. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Avalon for giving her a lovely home for the last few years.
Pat is pre-deceased by her husband, Les Gudlaugson, parents Percy and Marjorie Clunas, and brother James Clunas. She is survived by her children, Lynne (Dale) Himer; Lorne (Louise) Gudlaugson; Lana
Gudlaugson; her sister Helen Craig; her grandchildren, Erin Himer (Mathieu), Chelsea

In my dreams, I'll always see you soar above the sky
In my heart, there'll always be a place for you for all my life
I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am, there you'll be
