Sorrow fills our hearts , Our clan finds ourselves 
Losing one of our patriarchs Raymond Robert 
He was a Working Man, an Educator/Intellectual - full of Self/Sacrifice

May you feast evermore in the Halls of McCarthy 
Yes you wore the Name Majestically! 
You deserve the Table of Kings 
Your devotion to Education and Fair Play has been 
An influence for generations of Canadians 
This is not an easy task for anyone - everybody loves to hate the Ref. 
This takes a person of special abilities.
 Not only were You able to preform these tasks at a Gold Medal level 
You were able to pass this Gift to others . 
For all Canadians; I thank you.

The adventurist spirit flowed thought your veins 
packing the young family up and moving out to the coast. 
Yet still every summer packing the family into The RV 
and going back for a visit back to the Peg. 
For a Family ride on the 'River Rouge'
Yes those will be some childhood memories 
that will live on in me forever.

Your devotion to your children should also be addressed 
The dictionary definition of our Name; "Son of the loving One" 
Constant involvement in the lives of your Children, 
Grandchildren and Great/Grandchildren 
Although We didn't have a lot of contact in the past three decades 
I always enjoyed time around Uncle Ray, that smirk , martini dry quick wit. 
You had that quality that reminded me; 
I had a surname that meant something. 

Long the Journey has been; 
A young boy skipping down the rail-way tracks 
under the Aurora across lakes and rivers in 
Canoes made of Britch and tar
Binding with True love in marriage with Carole 
Over mountains where - Your own Clan You planted 
Nurturing and grooming a new place for the Tree

Walk softly; Take Thy Brothers' Hands 
They will guide Thee through the Green 
Hills and Krystal Brooks of Desmond 
Barry, Doug and Ted know all the trails and spots
 "Catch a fish here" ,"Look Crab-apples there" they will say.
 Run, Play, Fish, Visit, They have been waiting for this day.
Till finally a Mist covers all these tracks. 
In that final sunset - sadly today 
They have You now - it is ok 
Then we all shall whisper; farewell Ray.

My mother also wished that I mentioned Her sorrow in losing a Brother. She is at a loss for words.

Carole; please accept my condolences in this time of pain. Mere words are all I can give, you are in My thoughts.

To Grant, Kirk, Scott and Michelle. The words of Hans Christian Andersen ring true this day;

"It doesn't matter about being born in a duckyard, as long as you're hatched from a swan's egg!"
