The family of Bob (Robert) Frederick Cluett, of White Rock B.C. is saddened to announce his passing on July 20, 2022, at the age of 83, of natural causes. Bob was born on June 30, 1939 in New Westminster to Frederick and Eugenia Cluett.

Bob was an avid traveller throughout his entire life. While raising his family he would plan long road trips by studying road maps and travel books for months. Family travels, usually in the RV, took them across Canada, the United States and into Mexico.

In his later years, after separating from his wife, Bob embraced his lone wolf status and had many solo adventures across the globe with his favourite destinations being England, Switzerland, and France. When not travelling abroad he used to jump in his “rig” and take off on an unplanned road trip down the Oregon Coast or perhaps up to his favourite spot, Penticton, where he had many fond memories from his youth. He always enjoyed meeting new people and would look forward to every new adventure.

A highlight for Bob and his daughter Karen was travelling together in Europe in 2015. This was a cherished time spent together seeing the sights, tipping back pints, and making sure nothing was left unsaid to each other.

Bob was a transit operator and made some lifelong friendships during his career, he enjoyed spending time with his colleagues long after his retirement. He was blessed with a long retirement residing in White Rock where he made many great friends in the community. It seemed like you couldn’t walk down the street or go into a restaurant without someone knowing Bob. But his two favourite places to spend his time were his daughter’s house with family on Sundays and The Washington Avenue Grill (The WAG) which became his pseudo family over the years. On a Wednesday evening at The WAG you were sure to find him enjoying a glass of wine, surrounded by great friends, and listening to his favourite performer (Jani) tickling the ivory. Bob was described as a real gentleman with a great sense of humour, a great conversationalist, “one of the good ones”, and always a bit of a flirt.

Bob’s daughter Karen has said that she learned some of her greatest life lessons from her dad; never put up with a bad pour at the pub, always have an extra set of keys on hand, Charlton Heston movies never get old but most of all respect and honesty are paramount.

Bob is survived by his daughter Karen King (Cluett), his son-in law JJ King and his 3 grandchildren Anna, Dane and Maggie.
