September 16, 1946 - February 16, 2010
Susan was born in Victoria, BC, and raised in Sechelt and Edmonton, Alta., where she married and had two children. Susan moved her young family to the Vancouver area, where she took accounting classes and worked her way up to the position of Vice President of Wall Financial Corporation's Property Management division - all while raising two children on her own, in the days before government assistance and child care subsidies.
Susan recently retired, and had started working on two "dream" projects: a Film Festival for Whistler, and a production company specializing in family-friendly movies. Susan loved travel, the arts, and reading, but her main enjoyment was spending time with family and friends; she was loved by all who knew her. Susan lived life fully, richly, and deeply; she showed great kindness, without judgement, to all. She was intelligent, gracious, and beautiful inside and out - We are richer for having had her in our lives.
Struck by early-onset Alzheimer's disease in what should have been the best part of her life, Susan still did all she could to make those around her feel important. Her last few years were spent with family, where she was loved and well cared for. She passed away peacefully, with both her children by her side. Deeply saddened by her passing are her sister, Darolyn (Michael) Greenhut, children Michael (Kathleen) Taschuk and Michele (Peter) VanderZwan, grandchildren Dustin (Erin), Evan, Sasha, William, Steven and Erica; and great-grandchildren Kiana and Levi.
Service will be held at 11 am on February 25, 2010 at Henderson Funeral Home, Langley; 2 pm graveside service at Garden of Gethsemane, Surrey.
Arrangements under the direction of Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, Langley, BC.
