Thelma Cienfuegos de Avila - loving wife, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on September 17th, 2026 in her home in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, accompanied by her husband, Hugo Avila. Thelma was a most faithful and devout Catholic all her life, and despite our very painful loss, all remaining family members are comforted in knowing that her soul has now departed for eternal rest alongside the Heavenly Father.
Thelma was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador in 1951 and was the youngest of five children. She loved travelling and spent time in both New York and Puerto Rico together with her sister. In school, she studied accounting and worked as an accountant in the national institute school (INSA) where she enjoyed her work and made many friends.
She moved to Canada in 1986 together with her husband and lived in Saskatoon, Vancouver and Los Angeles while working and raising three boys (Vladimir, Hugo and Victor). Thelma was deeply dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking, dancing and spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially during the Christmas season. Her smile and laughter would light up a room, and she was always thinking of others and looking after everyone in the family.
We miss her deeply and will remain forever in our hearts.
