Nickerson, William Clifford – 67, Langley, BC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Born March 3, 1949 in Halifax, he was the son of the late William and Jean (Handy) Nickerson Sr., Mason’s Point, NS. He is survived by his wife, Clare; his children Billeh, Vancouver, and Janet, Langley; his sisters Lynn (Bill) Shead, Selkirk, MB; Charlotte (Robbie) MacKeigan, Halifax, NS; Susan Nickerson-Graham (Stephen) Tsawwassen, BC; and many nieces and nephews.
A retired airline pilot, he started his flying career at the Moncton Flying Club. He later worked as a bush pilot in Eastern Canada before moving onto the big jets at CP Air and Air Canada. After retirement he worked part-time as a school bus driver. He was always most comfortable with rows of passengers behind him.
In recent years he represented British Columbia at both the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Curling Championships, and the Travelers Curling Club Championships in Halifax, where he was eldest competing curler. He was a long time volunteer and member of the Langley Curling Club.
He lived a life of great integrity and mischievous humour, and cherished his many long lasting relationships. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to both the medical team at the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic and to Dr. Robin Wilson for their compassionate care.
At his request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, our family asks that Bill be remembered by sharing what he so valued throughout his life: kindness.
