Wolf was born on May 5, 1936, in Berlin, and was the son of Otto and Elsbeth Friedrich.
Wolf came to Canada in his early 20s, and met Gisela in Edmonton, when his and Gisela’s mothers decided they were perfect for each other and introduced them. The couple moved to BC in 1975 with their son Brian, to get away from the Alberta snow.
Wolf worked in the food industry for most of his career, apprenticing as a baker in Germany, then working in food services in Alberta and BC. He and Gisela ran several businesses together, most notably a much-loved deli in Scottsdale Mall, and later the Airside Café & Catering at YVR.
Wolf loved the spotlight and was always the life of the party. His antics often resulted in an exacerbated “Spatz!” from Gisela, which he would wave away with a grin. His proudest accomplishment was raising Brian to be a free spirit.
Remaining to cherish Wolf’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Gisela; Daughter-in-Law, Laura; and cousins Martina, Andy and Mattias and their families in Berlin. Special friends include Abbi and Ulli and their family on Vancouver Island; Brian’s birth parents Pat and Lenard and their family in Alberta; Tanya, Jeanette and their families in Alberta; and all of the dear friends from the Coulthard and Meadowbrook communities, and from Home Church Langley.
Memorial donations in Wolf’s memory may be directed to Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, or whichever charity you like to support.
A Celebration of life Reception is scheduled for 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Langley. Please contact Laura at [email protected] if you would like to join us. Condolences can be sent by clicking on the link Show Your Support at the bottom of this page.
